Description of key information

The experimental bioconcentration factor (BCF) is reported to range from 4320 to 23 200 L/kg at a concentration of 0.001 ppm w/v and 4830 to 16 000 L/kg at a concentration of 0.01 ppm w/v.

The study provided to address this endpoint was awarded a reliability score of 2 in accordance with the criteria of Klimisch et al. (1997).

The potential of the test material to bioaccumulate was investigated in a study conducted in accordance with the Japanese guideline ‘Bioaccumulation study of chemicals in fish and shellfish’ (Kanpogyo No. 5, Yakuhatsu No. 615, 49 Kikyoku No. 392).

A preliminary test was conducted in which Japanese killifish were exposed to the test material (along with the dispersant hydrogenated castor oil). The 48 h TLm value was determined to be 128 ppm.

The main study was then carried out using carp. Fish were exposed to the test material at concentrations of 0.01 and 0.001 ppm w/v (again using the dispersant hydrogenated castor oil). The study took place at 25 °C using flow-through conditions for 8 weeks.

Following the exposure period, no abnormal observations were made for the fish. The fish were then sacrificed and prepared for analysis.
