Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
General information:
In case of accident or if you feel unwell seek medical advice (show label or SDS where possible). In the event of allergic reactions, particularly those affecting the respiratory system, seek immediate medical advice.
After inhalation:
Move to fresh air, keep the victim laying down and restful. If breathing has stopped, give artificial respiration. Seek medical advice and clearly identify substance.
After contact with the skin:
Wash with plenty of water or soap and water; immediately remove all contaminated clothing. In cases of sickness seek medical advice
(show label if possible). Seek medical advice in case of continuous irritation.
After contact with the eyes:
Rinse immediately with plenty of water. Follow up check by oculist.
After swallowing:
Do not induce vomiting. Danger of aspiration. Give plenty (up to 50 tablets) of medical carbon (tablets or powder) with water.
Seek medical advice and clearly identify substance.
Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed
Product can lead to sensitisation and can trigger allergies. After inhalation: treat as early as possible using cortisone spray.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media:
water, extinguishing powder, foam, carbon dioxide.
Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reasons:
none known
Special exposure hazards arising from the substance or preparation itself, combustion products, resulting gases:
Hazardous combustion products: hydrogen chloride.
Special protective equipment for fire fighting:
Use respiratory protection independent of recirculated air.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions:
Wear personal protection equipment. Task force: Use tightly fitting chemical protection suit (see section 8). Keep unprotected
persons away. Take persons to a safe place. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Avoid inhaling mists and vapours. Observe wind direction.
Environmental precautions:
Prevent material from entering sewers or surface waters. Contain any fluid that runs out using suitable material (e.g. earth).
Observe local/state/federal regulations. Dispose of in prescribed marked containers.
Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:
Absorb with a liquid binding material such as diatomaceous earth and dispose of according to local/state/federal regulations.
For small amounts: Cover with calcium oxide. Contain larger amounts and pump up into suitable containers.
Handling and storage
General information:
Avoid exposure by technical measures or personal protective equipment.
Handling:
Precautions for safe handling:
Ensure adequate ventilation.
Precautions against fire and explosion:
Cool endangered containers with water.
Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:
Conditions for storage rooms and vessels:
Store under protective gas. Unsuitable material for storage containers, casks and pipelines: iron, steel, zinc, light metals and their alloys.
Suitable material for storage containerts, casks and pipelines: glass, enamel, titanium. Test the suitability of materials for storage vessels,
containers and piping.
Advice for storage of incompatible materials:
Keep away from alkalis.
Further information for storage:
Keep in the original container in a cool well ventilated place. Keep container dry and tightly closed.
Specific end use(s):
No data available.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Control parameters:
Maximum airborne concentrations at the workplace:
not applicable
-
Exposure controls:
Exposure in the work place limited and controlled:
General protection and hygiene measures:
Remove contaminated, soaked clothing immediately. Do not eat, drink or smoke when handling. Avoid contact with eyes and skin.
Do not breathe vapours. Provide emergency shower and eye-bath.
Personal protection equipment:
Respiratory protection:
Respiratory protection required. Gas mask filter ABEK P2 . In case of long or strong exposure: positive pressure self contained breathing apparatus.
Hand protection:
Protective gloves generally only suitable as splash protection. nitrile rubber protective gloves . protective gloves made of fluorinated rubber (0,4 mm) . Due to the substance‘s properties, contaminated gloves must be immediately decontaminated and changed. The permeation time is reduced by mechanical and thermal stresses above 20°C. The selection of appropriate gloves not only depends on the material, but also on other quality characteristics, and may vary depending on the manufacturer. Please observe information from your glove supplier in terms of permeability and breakthrough time.
Eye protection:
tight fitting protective goggles.
Skin protection:
full protective suit. Immediately decontaminate and change contaminated protective clothing.
Exposure to the environment limited and controlled:
Prevent material from entering surface waters, drains or sewers and soil.
Further information for system design and engineering measures:
Use only in closed systems.
Stability and reactivity
Reactivity; Chemical stability; Possibility of hazardous reactions:
If stored and handled in accordance with standard industrial practices no hazardous reactions are known.
Conditions to avoid:
none known.
Incompatible materials:
Reacts violently with: basic substances. Reaction causes the formation of heat.
Hazardous decomposition products:
none known.
Disposal considerations
Material:
Recommendation:
Dispose of according to regulations by incineration in a special waste incinerator. Observe local/state/federal regulations.
Uncleaned packaging:
Recommendation:
Completely discharge containers (no tear drops, no powder rest, scraped carefully). Containers may be recycled or re-used.
Observe local/state/federal regulations. Uncleaned packaging should be treated with the same precautions as the material.
