Executive summary:

A study was conducted to determine the surface tension of the test substance, C18 TMAC (Purity: 99.2%) according to DIN 53914 (Determining the surface tension of surfactants) and ISO 304:1985, in compliance with GLP. The ring method was used in this experiment. Critical micelle concentration was determined using an automated tensiometer (KSV Tensiometer Sigma 70) connected with a computer. The test water was distilled and deionised using a MilliQ® plus purifier from Millipore. The tensiometer was calibrated with distilled water (surface tension value (mAV) at 25°C = > 72 mN/m). Under the study conditions, the surface tension of 1 g/L solution of the test substance was found to be 38 mN/m at 25°C and the critical micelle concentration was 49 mg/L at pH 7.0 (Börjesson, 2012).
