Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The available algal growth inhibition test (Scenedesmus subspicatus); K2; 1992; EU Method C3 or 88/302/EEC; GLP; EC50 (growth rate, 72h) > 55 mg/L; NOEC (cell number, 72h) = 27 mg/L

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

There is only one test available reporting toxicity to algae (Scholz, 1992). The test was performed according to the EU Method C3 and GLP guidelines. An EC50 value based on growth rate (72h) was reported to be above 55 mg/L (nominal concentrations based on TOC content), the NOEC (cell number, 72h) was equal to 27 mg/L. Although this study is indicative of a lack of acute toxicity of the substance towards algae, it should be noted that all concentrations are above water solubility and reported concentrations are only nominal concentrations based on the TOC content.
