Description of key information

The BCF in soil (Koc = 16000) was calculated for earthworm according to the Technical Guidance Document (EC 2003, part II) (see below).

Additional information

According to the Technical Guidance Document (EC 2003, part II), the bioconcentration in earthworm can be described as a hydrophobic portioning between the pore water and the phases inside the organism. This equilibrium partitioning approach can be modelled according to the following equation as described by Jager (1998):

BCFearthworm = (0.84 + 0.012Pow )/ROHearthworm

where for ROHearthworm by default a value of 1 (kgwwt/L) can be assumed.
