Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Decomposition:
yes
Decomp. temp.:
250 °C

Based on DSC measurement 1 (see attached DSC), no sharp melting point was obtained during the heating up to 400°C. Since the first endotherm has an enthalpy of 17 J/g, this is most likely no melting point. A well-defined melting enthalpy has an enthalpy of ≥ 100 J/g.

To confirm the absence of a melting point as measured in measurement 1, a second DSC measurement was performed with subsequent heating/cooling ramps (see attached DSC heat-cool).

After the first endothermic effect, the sample was cooled from 160°C to 25°C, but no crystallization peak was observed. No further crystallization / melting effects were obtained in the subsequent heating/cooling ramps.

Finally a heating ramp to 400°C was performed, where the exothermic and second endothermic effect were observed, comparable with the first measurement.

Conclusions:
The melting point of Zirconium, dimethyl[[2,2'''-[1,3-propanediylbis(oxy-κO)]bis[3'',5,5''-tris(1,1-dimethylethyl)-5'-methyl[1,1':3',1''-terphenyl]-2'-olato-κO]](2-)]-, (OC-6-33)- was determined according to EC Regulation No 440/2008, Guideline A.1 [1] and according to OECD Guideline 102 [2], and in accordance with European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment, Chapter R.7a, Endpoint specific guidance, May 2008 [3].
The melting point was determined using thermal analysis (DSC).
The test substance did not melt before the decomposition, which start at 250 °C.
Executive summary:

The test substance did not melt before the decomposition, which start at 250 °C.
