Key result
Type:
relative density
Density:
2.353
Temp.:
20.8 °C
Remarks on result:
other: Mean value of two assays (assay No. 1: 2.358, assay No. 2: 2.347)

Two independent measurements at 20.5°C (assay No. 1) and 21°C (assay No. 2) were done (each in triplicate) resulting in relative densities of 2.358 ± 0.001 and 2.347 ± 0.002, respectively. The mean relative density was thus 2.353 ± 0.006.

In assay No. 1, the three runs did not deviate by more than 0.2% and were all used in the calculation of the mean value of 2.358. In assay No.2, the first run was not taken into account as it did not comply with this quality criterium. Thus, runs 2, 3 and 4 were considered for calculation of the mean value of 2.347.

Conclusions:
The relative density of gadolinium trinitrate (hexahydrated form) was determined to be 2.353 ± 0.006 at 20.8°C.
Executive summary:

The relative density of gadolinium trinitrate was determined according to EU A.3 method and OECD test guideline 109 in compliance with GLP using a gas comparison pycnometer. The relative density of gadolinium trinitrate was determined to be 2.353 ± 0.006 at 20.8°C.

Description of key information

The relative density of gadolinium trinitrate (hexahydrated form) was determined to be 2.353 ± 0.006 at 20.8°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Relative density at 20C:
2.353

Additional information

An experimental study of reliability 1 according to Klimisch, performed in compliance with GLP and according to EU method A.3 and OECD Guideline 109 using gas comparison pycnometry, was selected as a key study.

The relative density was determined to be 2.353 ± 0.006 at 20.8°C. Although the assay was not performed at strictly 20 °C, the relatively small temperature difference is not considered to have influenced the density of the solid material to a significant extent.
