Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
General information: Take off immediately all contaminated clothing.
After inhalation: Upon inhalation of aerosol/vapour/dust: Take the patient into the fresh air; if there is difficulty in breathing, medical advice is required.
After contact with skin: Remove all contaminated clothing immediately. Wash skin immediately with plenty of water. Consult a doctor.
After contact with eyes: Contamination of the eyes must be treated by thorough irrigation with water, with the eyelids held open. A doctor (or eye specialist ) should be consulted immediately.
After ingestion: Rinse mouth out immediately. In case of swallowing drink plenty of water. Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical advice immediately.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media: dried sand, alkaline extinguishing powder, sodium carbonate, sodium chloride, cement
Extinguishing media that must not be used for safety reasons: CO2, water
Special protective equipment for firefighting: Firemen have to wear self-contained breathing apparatus.
Further information: Fire residues and contaminated firefighting water must be disposed of in accordance with the local regulations. Vapours can form explosive mixtures with air. In case of fire the smoke may possibly contain toxic and/or irritating compounds as well as the initial compound.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions: Avoid formation and deposition of dust. Keep people away and stay on the upwind side. Wear suitable personal protective equipment. Avoid eye and skin contact, do not inhale vapours. Handle only in a closed system. Keep away from sources of ignition. Dust mask with particle filter Keep away from any possible contact with water, because of violent reaction and possible flash fire. Protect from moisture. Keep container tightly closed. Keep only in original container. Do not breathe dust. Avoid release to the environment.
Environmental precautions: Do not empty into drains or waters.
Methods for cleaning up/taking up: Take up spilled product with dust-binding material or suitable vacuum cleaner. Fill into labelled, sealable containers.
Product: If utilisation or recycling of the product is not possible, it should be disposed of according to the local regulations and laws, e. g. by incineration in a suitable plant.
Handling and storage
Advice on safe handling: Avoid formation and deposition of dust.
Keep container tightly closed and dry.
Advice on protection against fire and explosion: Observe the usual precautionary measures required for chemicals with dust-explosive properties. Observe national regulations. Vapours can form explosive mixtures with air. Protect from atmos. moisture and water Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking. Reacts violently with water, liberating extremely flammable gases.
Requirements for storage rooms and vessels: Store in original container in a cool, dry place.
In filling operations take precautionary measures against static discharges.
Further information on storage conditions: In case of fire, use extinguishing powder or sand. Do not use water! Keep away from any possible contact with water, because of violent reaction and possible flash fire. Do not allow contact with air. Protect from atmospheric moisture and water Handle only in a closed system. Avoid breating dust/fume/mist/vapours/spray. may cause dust explosion Observe the usual precautionary measures required for chemicals with dust-explosive properties. Observe national regulations. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Protect against wetness. Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking. Keep under nitrogen Keep away from oxidising agents. Keep only in original container. Keep container tightly closed.
Storage class:4.3 Substances which in contact with water emit flammable gases
This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 17(3) for on-site isolated intermediates and, in case the substance is transported to other sites for further processing, the substance should be handled at these sites under the Strictly Controlled Conditions as specified in REACH regulation Article 18(4). Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at each manufacturing site.
Written confirmation of application of Strictly Controlled Conditions has been received from every affected Distributor and Downstream Processor/User of the Registrant’s intermediate.
