Security incident on 07/12/2022 - SOLVED

Security incident 2022 main

Yesterday ECHA identified that external users had uploaded unauthorised documents to its websites exploiting a weakness in our system.

ECHA IT took immediate action to prevent any further damage and, as a temporary measure, ECHA’s websites were taken offline and were inaccessible to external users this morning.

The immediate issue has been addressed, however as part of our ongoing remedial work it has been necessary to disable users ability to login to the ECHA websites for the time being. We will update you once this facility is available again.

We want to reassure users that, at all times, your data and user credentials have remained secure.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for any question you may have relating to this incident and your data, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused during this period.

Update 16 December 2022

The users’ login to the ECHA websites will remain unavailable until early 2023.

For options to download critical files, please visit the ECHA IT tools’ webpages.

Update 17 January 2023 - Users’ login to the ECHA websites now available

We are pleased to inform you that the issue has been solved and it is possible to login again in all ECHA websites. Thank you for your patience!
