Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove to fresh air.  If breathing is difficult give oxygen.

If breathing ceases give artificial respiration. If signs

of toxicity occur, seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Flush eye(s) with copious amounts of water, for at least 15

minutes.  Seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing.  Wash affected area with

copious amounts of water.  If irritation persists seek

medical attention.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Do NOT induce vomiting.  Seek immediate medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Use appropriate medium for the underlying cause of fire e.g.

Carbon dioxide, foam, or dry chemical.  Do NOT use water or

water fog.

Containers should be cooled, from a maximum distance, with

water.

Product arising from burning: Oxides of carbon

Oxides of nitrogen

CCl2O

Hydrochloride acid

Chlorine gas

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Fire-fighters should wear full protective clothing including

self contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Protective clothing should be worn including rubber or

plastic gloves, safety spectacles/goggles and a respirator.

Vacuum or sweep up spill, minimising dust and transfer solid

waste to a suitable, sealable container.  The spillage site

should be washed with water.

Handling and storage

Handling: Protective gloves should be worn along with safety glasses

or goggles.  Respiratory protection is also be required.

HEPA filter, full face or half mask respirator is

recommended as a minimum.  Local exhaust ventilation may be

desirable.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry place in sealed, unbreakable, acid

resistant containers in a cool dry place away from light,

and protected form air or moisture.  Do not store with

organic or inorganic bases or water.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: May undergo violent reactions with alcohols, amines and

dimethyl sulphoxide.

May also react violently with strong alkalis and strong

oxidisers.

Chemical reaction with water: Reacts with water to produce hydrochloric acid.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: X-17-17 is consumed in the drug synthesis reaction in which

it is employed.  Significant residual levels in reactor

effluent are not expected.  No practical method of recycling

or recovery is known.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: No chemical neutralisation method is known.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Incineration is recommended provided that a closed cycle

incinerator with scrubbers is used.  National laws must be

observed.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: X-17-17 is not intended for use by the public at large.
