Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The NOEC for biomass and reproduction was determined to be ≥ 650 mg/kg soil dw (based on read-across).

Additional information

No information on toxicity to soil macroorganisms of the test substance is available. Read-across is performed to structural analogue "Reaction products of 2-(4,6-bis(2,4-dimethylphenyl)-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl)-5-hydroxyphenol with ((C10-16, rich in C12-13 alkyloxy)methyl)oxyrane" (EC 410-560-1), for which adequate data is available.

The long-term toxicity of the structural analogue to soil macroorganisms was determined in a study according to OECD TG 222 and in compliance with GLP criteria (BASF, 2014a). In this study, earthworms (Eisenia fetida, 40 per concentration) were exposed to nominal concentrations of 0 (control), 0 (solvent control), 62.5, 125, 250, 500 and 1000 mg test item/kg soil dry weight for 28 days to the test substance. The body weight of the adult earthworms was individually determined on day 0 and day 28 for each replicate. After the first 28 days the adult earthworms were removed. Mortality and morphological changes of the adult earthworms were recorded for each test container. After further four weeks, the number of offspring hatched from the cocoons was counted for each test container. After 28 days of exposure in soil, no evident earthworm mortalities (< 10%) as well as no pathological symptoms or changes in the behaviour of adult earthworms were observed in all treatments. As there were no statistically differences determined between the control and the solvent control concerning the body weight development and the reproduction rate, the controls were pooled. Moreover, no statistically significant differences in earthworm body weights were observed at all test item concentrations compared to the pooled control. After further four weeks, the calculated reproduction rate (average number of juveniles produced) was 118 in the pooled control and ranged between 116 and 140 in the test item treatment rates. Compared to the pooled control, no statistically significant reduction of reproduction was observed in all test item concentrations. Based on the results, the NOEC for biomass and reproduction was determined to be ≥ 1000 mg/kg soil dw.
