Description of key information

The phytotoxicity of the test item Dodecene, hydroformulation products, low-boiling (Oxooil LS13) to three terrestrial plant species was determined in a seedling emergence test over a period of 21 days according to OECD Guideline Nr. 208. For all test species and endpoints the EC50 values were >1000 mg/kg soil dw. After 21 days no test item related phytotoxic effects were observed for all tested plant species.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Short-term EC50 or LC50 for terrestrial plants:
1 000 mg/kg soil dw

Additional information

The phytotoxicity of the test item Dodecene, hydroformulation products, low-boiling (Oxooil LS13) to three terrestrial plant species was determined in a seedling emergence test over a period of 21 days according to OECD Guideline Nr. 208. Test systems were one monocotyledon, oats (Gramineae), and two dicotyledons, rape (Brassicaceae) and soybean (Leguminosae).

Testing was conducted with the nominal concentrations of 0 (control), 0 (solvent control), 62.5, 125, 250, 500 and 1000 mg/kg soil dw. For all test species and endpoints the EC50 values were >1000 mg/kg soil dw. After 21 days no test item related phytotoxic effects were observed for all tested plant species. The present toxicity study is classified as reliable with restrictions according to the OECD guideline Nr. 208, since Oxooil LS 13 appears to be volatile (see IUCLID point 6.1.7), and any potential loss of the test substance during application to the soil was not determined.
