Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Justification for type of information:
In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII section 7.2 column 2, determination of melting point / freezing point does not need to be conducted as 1,1-bis(tert-butylperoxy)cyclohexane freezing point is expected to be lower than -20 °C. This evaluation is based on a study that examined the stability to coldness of 1,1-bis(tert-butylperoxy)cyclohexane 80 % in isododecane. The study results showed no crystallization of the test item at a temperature of -25 °C, meaning that the test item is stable at -25 °C and consequently its freezing point was expected to be lower than -25 °C.

Description of key information

The melting / freezing point study was waived according to column 2 of REACH Annex VII section 7.1 as the freezing point of 1,1-bis (tert-butylperoxy) cyclohexane was expected to be lower than -20 °C. This temperature evaluation was based on a study that examined the stability of the test item to coldness, showing no crystallization at -25 °C. Therefore, freezing temperature below -25 °C was expected.
