Description of key information

The test substance is solid at 20°C and 101.3 kPa. The melting point, 49.4°C, was determined using the capillary method according to EPA OPPTS 830.7200, and boiling point information requirement was waived since the test substance decomposes before boiling. The density, 1.058 at 20°C, was measured using a pycnometer method according to ASTM Method B923-10. The vapour pressure, 0.354 ± 0.010 Pa at 25°C, was determined with the gas saturation method according to EPA OPPTS 830.7950. In a granulometry study using electrical sensing zone according to OECD Guideline 110, ~99.9% of the test substance had a radius between 2 and 200 microns with a mean radius of 43.5 microns. The partition coefficient, Log Kow, 2.07 at 20°C, was determined using the shake flask method according to EPA OPPTS 830.7550. Water solubility, 392 mg/L at 20°C, was determined with the shake flask method according to EPA OPPTS 830.7840. Based on structure, surface activity is not expected or predicted. The flash point and autoflammability requirements were waived, as flash point is only a relevant property for liquids and autoflammability is not required for solids with a melting point ≤160°C. According to EU method A14, the test substance presented a danger of explosion with regard to the mechanical sensitivity (friction) test. The other two tests (effect of flame and mechanical sensitivity with respect to shock) were negative. The flammability requirement was waived as it is not required for solids which possess explosive or pyrophoric properties. The substance is not oxidising as it is incapable of reacting exothermically with combustible materials based on the chemical structure. Stability in organic solvents requirement is waived since this is not considered critical. This would be assessed in individual studies where organic solvents are used. The dissociation constant requirement is waived based the fact that the test substance cannot dissociate due to a lack of relevant functional groups. The viscosity requirement is waived since it is only relevant for liquids.
