Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Experimental data on acute toxicity to aquatic invertebrates are available for 1-ethylpiperazine (CAS 5308-25-8). A static study conducted according to EU Method C.2 was performed with Daphnia magna. The 48-h EC50 value was determined to be 199.3 mg/L (nominal, not pH-adjusted, BASF AG, 1988, rep.no.: 1/0002/2/88-0002/88). The initial pH of the test solutions above 31.25 mg/L exceeded the pH range given in OECD 202; therefore, the immobilization might be partly due to the high pH. Analytical monitoring of the test concentrations was not performed, but the substance is considered to be stable in water due to the high water solubility (completely miscible at 20 °C), the low vapor pressure (2.5 hPa at 20 °C) and the low Henry's Law Constant (HLC << 1 Pa*m³/mol). In addition, the substance is neither readily nor inherently biodegradable.

Based on the available experimental data, it can be concluded, that with high probability the substance is acutely not harmful to aquatic invertebrates.
