The study was performed according to EU Method A.9, OPPTS 830.6315 and UN Manual Test Methods 32.4 under GLP-conditions.

First, a safety test was performed: approx. 3 mL of the test item was heated with a Bunsen burner up to the temperature of 140.1 °C. The appearance had not changed after cooling down.

Then, a pre-test and a main test with two experiments were performed using a flash point tester.

The flash point of the test substance is stated as 26.0 ± 0.5 °C (corresponding to 299.2 ± 0.5K). This value is the mean value of two independent determinations.

Flash point of hexanal was described in several handbooks/puplications. Described properties are nearly the same: hexanal has a flash point of about 32 °C. This fits with the experimental determined value and leads to the same classification.
