Identity and concentration of auxiliary solvent for dispersal: No vehicle used.
The highest test concentration of nominal 144 mg/l was prepared by dissolving 316.7 mg of test item into 2200 ml of culture medium and by intense stirring for 24 h.
Since the test item undergoes rapid hydrolysis and as there was no specific analytical method available, analyses was performed by determination of the DOC (Dissolved organic carbon) content as sum parameter in the test media.
At the start of the test just before introduction of the Daphnia 97% of the nominal test concentration were found. After 48 hours test duration 90 % of the nominal values were determined. Thus during the test period of 48 hours the Daphnia were exposed to a mean of 93% of nominal.
Only at 0h in the test concentrations 100-144 mg/L slight prcipitation was observed after preaparation of the test item

- Adjustment of pH: no
- Photoperiod: 16 h
- Light intensity: 350 - 570 lux

EFFECT PARAMETERS MEASURED (with observation intervals if applicable) :
The immobility of the Daphnia was determined by visual controls after 24 and 48 h. Those animals not able to swim within 15 seconds after gentle agitation of the test beaker were considered to be immobile.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
N-(Morpholinomethyl)triethoxysilane VP was not toxic to the water flea Daphnia magna under the conditions of the test.
Executive summary:

To assess the acute toxicity of N-(Morpholinomethyl)triethoxysilane to aquatic invertebrates (Daphnia magna) a test according to OECD 202 (EU Guideline 92/92/EEC C.2) was performed. In the control and the concentrations 69, 83, 100 and 120 mg/L (nominal) no immobile daphnias were observed. At the test concentration of 144 mg/L one daphnia was immobile, which was not assessed as significant by statistical evaluation. The measured concentrations were at least 93% of the nominal. Based on this N-(Morpholinomethyl)triethoxysilane is not considerd to be toxic to Daphnia magna.
