The observed boiling point of reference substance n-decane was 174.0 °C at 102.30 kPa, which was 1.3 °C below the expected value of 175.3 °C (calculated based on the ASTM BP of 174.9 °C at 101.3 kPa; ASTM E1719-97). The observed boiling point of the test item was adjusted upward by 1.3 °C to account for this bias.

The observed adjusted BP of the test item was 191.3 °C at 102.3 kPa.

Conclusions:
Boiling point (OECD 104; dynamic method): 191.3 °C at 102.3 kPa.
Executive summary:

Boiling point determinations were performed according to OECD 104 compliant with GLP. The dynamic method for determining vapour pressure allows according to OECD 104 also for determining the boiling point up to 600 K.

The observed boiling point of reference substance n-decane was 174.0 °C at 102.30 kPa, which was 1.3 °C below the expected value of 175.3 °C (calculated based on the ASTM boiling point of 174.9 °C at 101.3 kPa; ASTM E1719-97). The observed boiling point of the test item was adjusted upward by 1.3 °C to account for this bias. The observed adjusted boiling point of 1-chloro-2,3-dimethylbenzene was 191.3 °C at 102.3 kPa.

Description of key information

Boiling point (OECD 104; dynamic method): 191.3 °C at 102.3 kPa.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Boiling point at 101 325 Pa:
