Administrative data

Endpoint:
explosive properties of explosives
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance contains chemical groups associated with explosive properties which include oxygen, but the calculated oxygen balance is less than - 200
Justification for type of information:
Potassium benzoate has no chemical components considered to be associated with explosive properties. Other benzoate salts, such as sodium, nor benzoic acid, are not considered to be potentially explosive. As with all organic solids, there is a possible effect that dry powder may cause dust explosivity and although no evidence that this does occur, precautions are recommended if ever handling dry organic powders.
