In reliable studies according OECD 404 and OECD 405 o-chlorobenzal chloride no relevant irritation effects have been reported.

Based upon practical experience o-chlorobenzal chloride may induce irritation to the eye, to the respiratory system and to skin in case of partial hydrolytic decomposition with formation of hydrochloric acid. While no stastically reliable information about this observation is available it is however regarded as conclusive for classification and labelling.
