Description of key information

Short-term toxicity to fish

DMDC (CAS 6864 -37 -5) is with high probability acutely not harmful to fish (96 -h LC50 > 100 mg/L, NITE 2002).

Long-term toxicity to fish

The intrinsic properties of the Substance indicate that significant and relevant long-term effects on fish will not occur (NOEC > 1 mg/L).

Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates

DMDC (CAS 6864 -37 -5) is acutely toxic to aquatic invertebrates (48 -h EC50 = 4.57 mg/L, NITE, 2002).

Long-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates

Chronic effects on aquatic invertebrates are not expected (21 -d NOEC = 4.0 mg/L, NITE, 2003).

Toxicity to aquatic algae

DMDC (CAS 6864 -37 -5) is acutely toxic to aquatic algae (72 -h ErC50 = 7.9 mg/L, 72 -h ErC10 = 4.1 mg/L, NITE, 2002).

Toxicity to microorganisms

The inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge in a STP is not anticipated when introduced in appropriate low concentrations (30 -min EC20 = 160 mg/L, BASF AG, 1990).
