Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure controls

Appropriate engineering controls:

Ensure good ventilation of the work station. Properly operating chemical fume hood designed for hazardous chemicals and having an average face velocity of at least 100 feet per minute. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Always wash your hands immediately after handling this product, and once again before leaving the workplace. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Remove soiled clothing promptly. Keep away from food, drink and animal feeding stuffs.

Hand protection:

Manipulate with gloves. Gloves have to be controlled before the use. Use a technique of withdrawal of gloves suited to avoid that the skin contacts

the product (i.e. without touching the outside surface of the glove). Throw gloves contaminated after the use according to the current laws and to the

good practices of laboratory. Wash and dry hands. The selected gloves have to satisfy the specifications of the EU Directive 89 / 686 / EEC and in

the standard IN 374 which derives from it.

Eye protection:

Safety glasses

Skin and body protection:

Wear suitable protective clothing

Respiratory protection:

Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (or equivalent) and full protective gear. Where risk assessment shows air-purifying respirators are appropriate use a full-face respirator with multi purpose combination (US) or type AXBEK (EN 14387) respirator cartridges as a backup to engineering controls. If the respirator is the sole means of protection, use a full-face supplied air respirator. Use respirators and components tested and approved under appropriate government standards such as NIOSH (US) or CEN (EU).

Environmental exposure controls:

Avoid release to the environment.

This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 18(4) for transported isolated intermediate. Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management system is available at each site. Written confirmation of application of Strictly Controlled Conditions has been received from every Downstream user of the intermediate.
