Guideline:
OECD Guideline 301 E (Ready biodegradability: Modified OECD Screening Test)
GLP compliance:
not specified

Test material

Constituent 1
Chemical structure
Reference substance name:
3-aminobenzenesulphonic acid
EC Number:
204-473-6
EC Name:
3-aminobenzenesulphonic acid
Cas Number:
121-47-1
Molecular formula:
C6H7NO3S
IUPAC Name:
3-aminobenzene-1-sulfonic acid

Study design

Oxygen conditions:
aerobic
Inoculum or test system:
not specified
Details on inoculum:
The details on the type and amount of inoculum have not been documented. However, the study director, Dr. H. Wellens was particitpant in the laboratory comparison tests for the development of the OECD test methods 301 and 302. For this reason it is most likely that the test conditions were already similar to the later OECD guideline 301E.
Duration of test (contact time):
32 d
Initial test substance concentration
Initial conc.:
48 mg/L
Based on:
test mat.
Parameter followed for biodegradation estimation
Parameter followed for biodegradation estimation:
DOC removal
Details on study design:
TEST SYSTEM
- Test vessel: 2 L Erlenmeyer flasks
- Treatment of test samples: filtrated through membrane filters, nominal diameter of the pores 0.2 µm
- Incubation of test vessels: testing was conducted on a rotary shaker with a diameter of the shaking circle of 5 cm and exposed to room temperature (20 - 22°C). The shaking frequency was set to about 70 - 100 rpm
Reference substance
Reference substance:
other: D(+)-glucose (monohydrate)
