Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
boiling point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2014
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 103 (Boiling point/boiling range)
Version / remarks:
(1995)
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.2 (Boiling Temperature)
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
differential scanning calorimetry
Decomposition:
yes
Decomp. temp.:
ca. 344 °C
Remarks on result:
other: Decomp. temp: 617 K

DSC: an effect, probably due to decomposition instead of boiling, was observed at ca. 344°C (see picture below). Weight loss and color change were also observed.

TGA: major weight loss between 350 and 450°C (see the attachment). This confirmed the decomposition of the substance.

Conclusions:
Using DSC/TGA it was concluded that the substance decomposes before boiling; the substance has no boiling temperature. The decomposition temperature of the test substance was determined to be ca. 344°C. The study was in accordance with test guidelines EC A.2 and OECD 103.

Description of key information

Decomposition before boiling, decomposition temperature ca. 344°C (EC A.2 and OECD 103: DSC/TGA)
