Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

There are two studies available for the determination of the toxicity to aquatic algae, both according to OECD guideline 201 with analytical monitoring of test substance concentration. The older study used DMSO as solubilizer to increase the water solubility of the test substance. Selenastrum capricornutum was exposed to the substance and changes in the biomass of the algae were recorded. The EbC50 determined after 72 hours of exposure was > 9 mg/l (Ciba-Geigy, 1987), which exceeded the water solubility for both the monoester and the diester component of the substance.

On request of UK authorities this study was repeated using water accomodated fractions to prepare the test solutions. Here, the ErC50 could be determined to be > 100 mg/L (Ciba, 2009).
