Description of key information

In an OECD guideline 222 study, the 28-day NOEC value for adult E. fetida survival was 308.6 mg/kg dry substrate for dihexyl ether, while the NOEC for weight change was 1000 mg/kg dry substrate. The NOEC value based on reproduction was 308.6 mg/kg dry substrate.

In an OECD 208 guideline study, the NOEC was 1000 mg/kg dry soil in all species for emergence and survival for dihexyl ether. The NOEC for shoot biomass was 100 mg/kg dry soil for Cabbage, Carrot, Lettuce, Tomato and Barley. For Onion, the shoot biomass NOEC was 1000 mg/kg dry soil. The overall NOEC for the study was 100 mg/kg dry soil.

In an OECD 216 guideline study, dihexyl ether was not inhibitory to the nitrate formation rate. Statistically significant stimulatory effects were observed at the two highest concetrations of 81 and 243 mg/kg. The calculated EC10 was 3.3 mg/kg dry soil.
