Description of key information

One experimental study has demonstrated suitability as a fertiliser. This use is in place for about 20 years as a proof of no detrimental effect on cultivated plants.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

One study has been carried out on the substance (spurgo di cristallizzatione impianto solfato ammonico) in 1992 in order to assess suitability of it as a N fertiliser, in comparison with standard urea. It was shown that at comparable doses, seedling emergence and biomass yield, for lettuces, were not significantly different. Since then, an authorisation was granted by Italian authorities for fertiliser use, which has demonstrated to be successful in this use, it is therefore rationale to conclude to no toxicity to plants.
