Description of key information

The half-life for hydrolysis for Ethyltriglycol methacrylate was estimated by calculation to be 31.4 yr at 25 °C (pH7).
Methacrylates are hydrolytically stable at acidic and neutral pH. At a pH 9 or 11, significant hydrolysis is observed with a trend toward decreased hydrolysis rate with increasing chain length and branching. The pH range relevant to determination of environmental fate is generally between pH 5 and 7; therefore, hydrolysis is not a significant route of degradation in the environment.
