Description of key information

Only a non-standard long term toxicity study was available. Therefore no key value can be defined. Based on the available information on acute toxicity testing and the physicochemical properties of 1,1-dichloroethene, new long-term toxicity tests are not considered necessary.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Only a non-standard long term toxicity study was available. Therefore no key value can be defined.

As specified in R.7.8.5.3, if the CSA indicates no risk, there are no further requirements for aquatic toxicity testing. A risk from CSA is indicated as “If PEC/PNEC >1” or “For substances with log Kow >3 (or BCF >100) and a PEClocal or PECregional >1/100th of the water solubility”. None of both conditions are met. Therefore, new long-term toxicity testing can be waived.
