A complex combination of hydrocarbons from the distillation of the products from a thermal cracking process. It consists predominantly of unsaturated hydrocarbons having carbon numbers predominantly in the range of C10 through C22 and boiling in the range of approximately 160°C to 370°C (320°F to 698°F).
This substance is a hydrocarbon UVCB. Standard tests for this endpoint are intended for single substances and are not appropriate for this complex substance. However, this endpoint is characterised using quantitative structure property relationships for representative hydrocarbon structures that comprise the hydrocarbon blocks used to assess the environmental risk of this substance with the PETRORISK model (see Product Library in PETRORISK spreadsheet attached to IUCLID Section 13).
In a key 47 day manometric respirometry ready biodegradability test (OECD 301F, KS=1), activated sludge was exposed to distillates (petroleum), light catalytic cracked (MRD-10-576) at a nominal concentration of 50 mg/L. The test system was considered inherently biodegradable, reaching 56.32% biodegradation in 28 days and 61.23% biodegradation in 47 days based on O2 consumption (ExxonMobil 2011a).
