Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The vapour pressure of unrefined/acid treated oils is <0.0058 Pa.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The vapour pressure for unrefined/acid treated oils was estimated to be <0.0058 Pa at 20°C (US EPA, 2000).

No additional measured vapour pressure data are available for unrefined/acid treated oils but measured data for other lubricant base oils (OLBOs) is available. Both OLBOs and unrefined/acid treated oils are produced by distilling crude oil but with marginally differing processes and have similar physico – chemical properties. The vapour pressure for a solvent dewaxed heavy paraffinic base oil (CAS No. 64742-65-0) was determined to be 0.00017 Pa using the EU A.4 test method (Hazleton Laboratories, 1991).
