Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Two studies on Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata have been conducted according to OECD Guideline 201. Results are somewhat different. We will retain results of MoE 1998 (ECr50-72h = 31.2 mg/L, NOECr = 24.8 mg/L) instead of those of Brixham lab 1993 (ECr50-72h = 130 mg/L, NOECr = 26 mg/L) as in the later there is a complete loss of test material measured at test end.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
31.2 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
24.8 mg/L

An investigation with a series of 12 marine species (fish, invertebrates, several algae) gave no indication of a higher sensitivity of marine species. To the contrary, LC/EC50 values and NOECs tended to be higher than the corresponding freshwater data.
