Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

100 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
100 mg/L

Additional information

The toxicity of Dimethyl succinate to the unicellular freshwater green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was determined according to the principles of OECD test guideline No. 201 and Regulation 440/2008 Method C3. Effects on growth rate and yield over a period of 72 hours were assessed at limit concentration of 100 mg/L. Achieved concentrations were verified by GC-MS analysis.

Dimethyl succinate was found not to inhibit growth of the freshwater green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata after 72 hours exposure at 100 mg/L.

In accordance with ECHA guidance on  information requirements and chemical safety assessment, Chapter R.7b: Endpoint specific guidance, the ErC50 endpoint is used in DNEL derivation. This is because use of values based on biomass cannot be applied to an analysis of results from a system in exponential growth without logarithmic transformation.

The predicted EC50 growth rate (freshwater) for Green Algae, estimated using the ECOSAR model v2.0, is 254.4 mg/L.

The predicted NOEC (freshwater) for Green Algae, estimated using the ECOSAR model v2.0, is 26.8 mg/L.
