Details on study design:
- 38 worker of a cyanuric chloride producing plant were analyzed for 4 years for the viskoelastic properties of their aterial vessels and compared to a control group of 30 persons similar in composition concerning age and gender ratio and not in contact with the test item
- The survey started 3 months after launching of the production plant and was repeated twice a year
- additional analysis of excretion of L-DOPA, dopamin, adrenaline and noradrenaline
- in addition effects of a therapy in a hospital on the analyzed parameters are stated (treatments: medication with vasodilatory drugs and vitamine B12, thermal treatment and bathing)

Results and discussion

Results:
- the maximal working place concentration of 0.1 mg/cbm was periodically surpassed
- generalised an alteration of the visco elastic properties of the vessels of the workers was stated
- in general an rising excretion of L-DOPA and dopamine and a decrease in noradrenaline and adrenaline excretion was determined with increasing duration of exposure
- a rise of the frequency of hypertensic incidents in the workers is unclear in the report
- effects of the hospital therapy remains unclear
- no individual data was reported an the points of comparison are not totally clear in some comparisons

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Under the conditions of the present study Cyanuric chloride leads to an alteration of the visco elastic properties of the vessels of the workers compared to a non exposed group. However, due to insufficient documentation (i.e. no individual data was presented) and methodological deficiences (i.e. confounding factors like smoking and dietary habits, body weight development, etc. are not reported) an assessment of the results is not possible.
