Description of key information

The analogous substance (hydrolysis products of the hydrolysis of cyanuric chloride) 2-chlor-4, 6-dihydroxy-1,3,5-triazin sodium salt (CAS no. 32998-00-8) was tested for toxicity to fish in a 96 h-static test according to EU-method C.1 and OECD guideline 203. The LC50 was assessed to be > 1000 mg/L.

Additional information

Key study:

In the study 90-0015-DGO a read across approach was applied with the supporting substance (hydrolysis products of the hydrolysis of cyanuric chloride)2-chlor-4, 6-dihydroxy-1,3,5-triazin sodium salt (CAS no. 32998-00-8).

The influence of test item on fish was investigated according to EU-method C.1 and OECD guideline 203. Fish were exposed to the test item for 96 hours under static conditions. A limit concentration of 1000 mg/L was tested. The 96 h LC50 value was determined to be > 1000 mg/L.

As worst-case key value for chemical safety assessment 1000 mg/L was used.

Supporting studies:

- In the study 79-0013-DKO cyanuric chloride was tested for toxicity to fish in a 48 h-static test according to DIN 38412, Part 15 and DEV L15. The LC50 was assessed to be > 525 mg/L.The 48 h-NOEC was determined to be 525 mg/L.

- In the study Applegate_1957 cyanuric chloride was tested for toxicity to fish in a 24 h-static test. Toxic effects of 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine described on lamprey larvae and rainbow trout and bluegill fishes were observed at 5 ppm = 5 mg/L. The 24 h-LOEC was determined to be 5 mg/L. This study was not reliable and thus will not be used for hazard assessment.

- In the study 97-0706-FGO_en isocyanuric acid was tested for toxicity to fish in a 96 h-semi-static test according to OECD guideline 203. The LC50 was assessed to be > 100.00 mg/L.
