The substance has a low octanol water partition coefficient (0.354) plus high water solubility (114700 g/m3) and high vapour pressure (7570 Pa). The Mackay level 1 model indicates that dimethyl carbonate is distributed into two compartments, air (54.46%) and water (45.45%). Negligible amounts partition into soil, sediment and biota. Therefore air and water are the only compartments that need to be considered.
