Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

The prediction concerning transport and distribution of alkyl dimethyl betaines in the environment is dependent on the form in which the substance exists in the environment. Alkyl dimethyl betaines have an amphoteric character. For the neutral form a Koc of 0.7 could be calculated for Betaines, C12-14 (even numbered)-alkyldimethyl (EC No. 931-700-2) and a Henrys Law Constant of 1.42E-009 Pa-m3/mole is predicted. The molecule is not expected to adsorb to suspended solids and sediment based upon the Koc as calculated for the uncharged molecule. If the substance is exposed to water, it will not evaporate into the atmosphere from the water surface because of its low Henry's Law Constant.

Betaines, C12-14 (even numbered)-alkyldimethyl (EC No. 931-700-2) is not expected to be volatile and the adsorption potential is also low.
