Additional information

The toxic effect of the test item 4-methylpentan-2-one toDaphnia magnawas assessed in a static limit-test following the procedure described in OECD 202 guideline. The 48-hour NOEC was determined to be > 200 mg test item/L. The 48-hour EC50value was determined to be > 200 mg test item/L.

Two other studies carried out by Bringmann & Kuhn during the late 70’s and early 80’s were not considered as relevant enough (Klimish rating of 3) but even the methodology was not sound enough the results are on line with those obtained in the 2009 report and allow to safely conclude that MIBK is not toxic or harmful to aquatic invertebrates.
