Additional information

Results from acute tests with fish, Daphnia and algae are available. No long-term studies were performed. The lowest short-term aquatic toxicity test result is the fish (Cyprinus carpio) EC50 (96 h) = 6.9 mg/L (Acute toxicity test). As there are no long-term data available and the substance is rapidly degradable and the log Kow ≥ 4 (Styrene oxide has an n-octanol/water partition coefficient log Kow of 1.61 according to the peer-reviewed handbook) the substance is not to be classified as hazardous to the aquatic environment.

Conclusion on classification

According to Directive 67/548/EEC as well as GHS Regulation EC No. 1272/2008 styrene oxide is not classified as hazardous to the environment.
