Description of key information

The acute toxicity towards Daphnia magna was investigated in accordance with OECD TG 202 and GLP under static conditions. Groups of twenty, less than 24 hours old, daphnids were exposed to nominal concentrations of 0.213, 0.470, 1.03, 2.27 and 5 mg substance/l and observed for 48 hours. Results: At the start of the test, the measured levels of the substance in samples of the test media at nominal concentrations of 0.213, 0.470, 1.03, 2.27 and 5 mg/l were equivalent to 90, 80, 76, 69 and 61% of their nominal values respectively. After 48 hours, the measured concentrations at the three lowest levels were maintained within 65 and 75% of their starting values. At 2.27 and 5 mg/l, the measured concentrations were 81 and 79% of their starting values, respectively. The overall mean measured levels of  the substance, based on a geometric mean were 0.155, 0.322, 0.679, 1.41 and 2.72 mg/l. The 48h-EC50 was 1.82 mg/l (95% confidence limits of 1.41 - 2.01 mg/l) based on geometric means of the concentrations.
