Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Acutely very toxic to aquatic algae.
EC50 (72 h, growth rate) = 0.88 mg/L (nominal) (Scenedesmus subspicatus , OECD TG 201)
EC10 (72 h, growth rate) = 0.25 mg/L (nominal) (Scenedesmus subspicatus , OECD TG 201)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
0.88 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
0.25 mg/L

Additional information

The determination of inhibitory effects on Scenedesmus subspicatus and Selenastrum capricornutum of 2-dimethylaminoethyl acrylate was performed in two different studies according to EU-Directive 79/831/EWG and OECD Guideline 201 (Alga, Growth Inhibition Test). The results of these studies showed EbC50 values of 0.23 mg/L and 0.201 mg/L, respectively. The measurements of the growth inhibition within the EU-Directive 79/831/EWG guideline study showed an ErC50 and ErC10 value of 0.88 mg/L and 0.25 mg/L, respectively. For the OECD guideline study a ErC50 > 1 mg/L and NOEC of 0.01 mg/L after 72 hours of exposure was given. Based on the presented results with high probability, 2-dimethylaminoethyl acrylate is acutely very toxic to aquatic algae.
