Description of key information

The study was waived because 4-Hydroxy TEMPO decomposes before boiling.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In accordance with Column 2 adaptation statement information requirement section 7.3 of Annex VII Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH), this study does not need to be conducted for substances which decompose before boiling. In the study for determination of the vapour pressure a differential scanning calorimetry test was conducted. The DSC test clearly shows a decomposition of 4-Hydroxy TEMPO in a range from 160 to 310 °C. Thus, the boiling point study was waived. In addition, the boiling point of 4-Hydroxy TEMPO is determined by QSAR estimation with the programme MBPWIN v.1.42 using EPIWIN software that is recommended in the REACH Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment, Chapter R.7.1.3.3, Table R.7.1-12, thus the calculated value is reliable with restrictions. The boiling point was calculated with MBPWIN v.1.42 using EPIWN software. The boiling point was predicted to be 332.21 °C.
