Conclusion on classification

For Reaction product of p-nonylphenol, formaldehyde and diethanolamine, propoxylated ecotoxicity data are available for three trophic levels (fish, aquatic invertebrates and alga). From these data the lowest effect values are observed in algae (72-h ErC50 and ErC10 values of 5.6 mg/L and 3.5 mg/L, respectively). Furthermore, the substance is characterized as not readily biodegradable. According to the criteria set out in Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 for the Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP), the substance is classified as hazardous to the aquatic environment category Chronic 2; H411 (Toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects). According to the criteria set out in Directive 67/548/EEC for the Classification, Packaging and Labelling of Dangerous Substances, the substance is to be classified as N; R51/53 (Toxic to aquatic organisms, may cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment).
