Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
explosive properties of explosives
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a gas
Justification for type of information:
According to REACH Guidance Chapter 7.a. (2017) "an explosive substance or mixture is a solid or liquid substance or mixture of substances which is in itself capable by chemical reaction of producing gas at such a temperature and pressure and at such a speed as to cause damage to the surroundings".

As the substance is a gas, the standard test developed for liquid and solid is technically unfeasible and scientifically unjustified.
The explosivity of gases is generally assessed through the definition of the flammable properties in air (i.e. flammable range).

In any case, the assessment of the molecular structure shows the absence of chemical groups associated with explosive properties.

Description of key information

The explosiveness study is not conducted as technically unfeasible for gases.
The explosivity of gases is generally assessed through the definition of the flammable properties in air (i.e. flammable range).

The assessment of the molecular structure shows the absence of chemical groups associated with explosive properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive
