The substance was tested for all relevant endpoints by the oral route with the exception for acute inhalation toxicity. In the absence of carcinogenicity or reproductive toxicity, no DNELs are derived for these endpoints. DNELs are derived for the adaptive liver enlargement observed in repeated-dose toxicity studies with rats and dogs and for the local effects observed in the acute inhalation study.

Due to the findings of skin sensitizing properties in guinea pigs, a DNEL for local effects cannot be derived. Negative results were obtained with patch testing of volunteers performed in the 1960s, so the potential for skin sensitization in humans may not be strong.

Assessment factors are applied as given in the guidance document R.8 published by ECHA in May 2008. For route-to-route extrapolation regarding oral to inhalation exposure, a factor of two is introduced to allow for potential differences for absorbtion. Regarding oral to dermal exposure, no such factor is needed.
