Description of key information

The Koc value of methyl 5-nitrohydrogen.isophthalate is found to be in the range of 10 to 35.7 at 25oC. The Koc value of 10 (that is reported by many sources) when converted at 20oC works out to be Koc=9.5 (20oC)

The adsorption/desorption of a chemical in the environment specially the water and soil compartment would depend on its potential to adsorb to the soil particles. Koc, which is the organic carbon sorption constant, gives a reliable estimate of the adsorption/desoption of the chemicals. methyl 5-nitrohydrogen.isophthalate has Koc values ranging from 10 -35.7. This suggests that this chemical will have a very low potential to adsorb to soil particles and have a tendency to leach into water.
