Additional information

MBS is not readily biodegradable with a biodegradability of 0% observed in 28 days. The described main hydrolysis products of MBS are also not readily biodegradable. According to the negligible biodegradation of MBS and its described metabolites, no better biodegradability can be expected to be observed in simulation test; and hence to carry out such tests are scientifically unjustified. MBS and its described metabolites are expected to be non-biodegradable; and hence persistent in surface water, sediment and soil.
