Description of key information

No data on auto flammability are currently available in literature. Based on own data the substance has demonstrated to have a flash point above 200 °C. According to EC 1907/2006 a test on auto flammability does not need to be conducted if the before mentioned requirement is fulfilled.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Methyl phosphonic acid exists in white crystalline form at room temperature with a melting point of 105 °C at normal air pressure. The liquid form (>105 °C) could not be bringing to boil because decomposition occurs. A test to determine the flash point was carried out up to a temperature of 200 °C with the result that an exact flash point could not be determined (>200 °C). Therefore, in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 Annex VII, a test for auto flammability does not need to be conducted.
