Potassium Aluminium Silicates are ubiquitous in rocks, soils and sediments, they are stable over geological time and the fibres we discuss here are chemically identical, albeit of different morphology. The material is inorganic, inert and stable; it is recycled back into the process where possible or disposed to landfill. Air leaving the processes is filtered and measures are in place to prevent accidental release to water courses.

The substance is a very dense material which does not contain nanoparticles, so will settle rapidly from both air and liquids, distribution is only local within manufacturing and use facilities.

There are no known routes for their biodegradation, and the substance is composed of dense particles, therefore testing is not justified or technically possible.

Sodium and potassium aluminosilicates are used as anticaking agents in food and are generally regarded as safe. (GRAS substances in US FDA parlence.
