Conclusions:
The auto-ignition temperature of liquid PPG-2 myristyl ether propionate was determined to be 223 °C at 102.0 kPa.
Executive summary:

To determine the auto-ignition temperature (liquids) of PPG-2 myristyl ether propionate, a GLP-compliant study was performed in line with EU Method A.15 (Auto-Ignition Temperature (Liquids and Gases)) of EU Regulation (EC) 440/2008, Annex Part A. The aim of the test is to establish the temperature of hot flame auto-ignition of a liquid chemical in air, while contained in a uniformly heated vessel. The auto-ignition temperature is considered to be the minimum temperature at which a combustible substance / mixture will produce hot flame ignition in air at atmospheric pressure without the aid of an external ignition source such as a spark or flame. The experiment was performed nineteen times (inner flask temperature recorded from 221 - 348 °C) and the vessel cleaned between the interval of 4 / 5 and 9 / 10. A final auto-ignition temperature of 223 °C was obtained for PPG-2 myristyl ether propionate at 102.0 kPa.

Description of key information

An auto-ignition temperature of 223 °C at 102.0 kPa was observed for liquid PPG-2 myristyl ether propionate.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Autoflammability / Self-ignition temperature at 101 325 Pa:
223 °C

Additional information

The final endpoint value for auto-flammability has been concluded as reliable without restriction (Klimisch score of 1) given that it was derived from a GLP-compliant key study in line with EU Method A.15 (Auto-Ignition Temperature (Liquids and Gases)) of EU Regulation (EC) 440/2008, Annex Part A. No deviation from the protocol was reported.
